Who is alex carpio?
I was an active gang member for 20 years before turning my life around to make peace with myself and positive contributions to my community.
I was born and raised in the City of Rosemead, in the south San Gabriel Valley in California. I was gang-banging by the age of 13. Soon I was introduced to juvenile halls and boot camps.
School counselors, teachers and social workers from then on viewed me as a hard-core gang member who would never change his destructive ways.
Change is possible, and I am living proof. We can be a catalyst for change for those in gangs and those tempted by gang life.
